Life

I bought a new battery and my car is now going well. I hated not being able to get out and about. Have had another busy week, mainly sitting at my computer, keeping in touch with people. I still don't have the volume fixed on my computer which is good because Hubby can't tell how late I go to bed. The kitchen fitters arrived on Monday to finish off the kitchen that I complained about a year ago. They never turned up last Thursday as promised and didn't phone to apologise. They fixed the leaking tap and put a new upright on the corner cupboard but they had ordered the wrong depth of drawer. They will have to come back so I told them I would see them in a year. I think they took as a joke, but was it a joke? The headache of last week turned into sinus problems and I needed corks to stop a runny nose. I am a lot better now. The Quilt Group meeting went well and we have completed one corner of the New York Beauty, our homework is to complete the whole circle. I am not sure what I am going to use if for when I have finished it (if ever). This may be my first UFO. My Daughter and her Partner came over for dinner last night which I always enjoy. I don't have much to write about this week. I found a pattern for a Clarice Cliff plate which I am getting the materials together for. I bought a small rotary cutter to try my wavy edge ruler but I haven't found the time to use it yet, I will make an effort this week-end. The weather has not been too good with the snow but I don't think we got it as bad as some so we must count our blessings. Hubby nearly got hit by another car on the way to work yesterday morning, the other car must have braked to hard and slid a little out onto the main road. He got up a little earlier today just in case the weather was worse. All is quiet on the Sat Nav front no more problems with it as yet. I must have been busy this week without realising it because the laundry and ironing are up to date so is all the housework. Must be having a good week or a guilty conscience for neglecting it due to sewing projects. Maybe my Sister-in-Law has the day off and will pop round and we can out to lunch. I haven't done lunch with her since she came back from her holiday in Australia. I have tooth ache that I keep fighting because I hate the dentist since having a tooth removed not so long ago. Keep my fingers crossed. Must go as I need to go into the town. Maybe more next week and hopefully more interesting thing to write about. Still no comments....is any-one out there?

ThisWeek

I suddenly realized I hadn't written a blog for a week. How time flies. We have survived two Thursdays of wind and rain without sustaining any damage, thank goodness. I have just got over a sinus infection, couldn't stand the head ache that went with it. Lets hope it never happens again. I have been out to lunch with my daughter and enjoyed it, its nice to see her face to face to talk. She came over the other evening and had a chat and a cup of tea so Hubby saw her also. I got into my car today and nothing happened when I turned the key. I noticed I had left the interior light on and hadn't used my car for 3 days. I will buy a new battery tomorrow when Hubby is with me. No more am I going to charge it up because it keeps running down so I reckon I need a new one. Talking of Hubby. Remember the Sat Nav episode, he came home from work yesterday and told me he couldn't get the screen to work. After dinner he had another look (with me counting to ten) at his suggestion we plugged it back into the computer and put the disc in. He pushed the re-set button still nothing happened, he assured me he had turned it on. By this time he was raising his voice to think he had broken it, he looked for the telephone number so he could phone for help. This time he allowed me to touch the Sat Nav (unusual) I pushed the button to switch it on and low and behold on came the screen. He hadn't been pushing the button for long enough. Calm restored. I have now got in touch with a friend of old and its nice to exchange memories with each other. As for my quilting, I am about to start a Clarice Cliff inspired wall hanging which I found in an old magazine. Once I get my car battery and can make it into the town to get it enlarged. I also bought a wavy edge ruler but then found out my rotary cutter is too big and so I will have to buy a smaller one. It sounds complicated to use but after a few cuts I am sure I will get the hang of it. I don't know if people are reading my blogs because I never get any comments it would be nice to find out. I will try to remember to blog more often. I blame my age.

Bad Day

It seems to be along time since I wrote my last blog page. My Hubby has sorted his Sat Nav now I have printed off the instructions for him. He then decided to re-tune the digi-box, well you can guess what happened. He picked me up on Tuesday evening from my quilting group meeting to say he had started to re-tune it but it had got stuck on the scanning so he had switched it off. We got home and re-started the scanning as we could not receive anything through the box. It took half an hour to scan but did not hold its memory. By this time it was ten thirty and as Hubby gets up early in the morning (and I was getting annoyed) I suggested we leave it. I had a look the next day and I don't know what I did but managed to get it working again. I have now made him promise not to touch it. Today I am having a bit of an off day. I ate a couple of chocolates so now I have a headache that I can't seem to shift. I am a migraine sufferer so I should have known better. I have plodded on with the day, I even went to lunch with my Daughter thinking maybe the outside air would make it go away and I have taken one of my majic tablets but it hasn't helped so I think and early night to try to sleep it off before it becomes a really bad one. So with that information I will now close for the day. It is windy and raining here with the winds supposed to be around 50 miles an hour. There was some trees blown over when I went out and our front fence had another piece broken off it, was it the wind or was it the vandals ???????

Thursday 4 January 2007

Well I seem to be getting better at finding my blog page most of the time. I installed Norton AntiVirus but it keeps telling me it is unknown and my virus protection is not switched on. I will have to have a word with my Daughters partner (he knows more than me). At the last entry I was telling you about Hubbys Sat Nav. We used it to go to Yarmouth but he reckoned he was going the shortest way, so all the way there she was trying to get us back to the starting point. Coming home was fine because she brought us home the way we went. I eventually printed off the soft-ware all one hundred and forty pages of it. I told him he had to buy my next cartridge for the printer. I doubt if he will ever use all the information but at least he has got it in black and white and I don't have to keep loading the disc so he can read it. The Daughter and her partner came over for dinner last night. I like making mid week roast dinners but last night was late dinner because it was not until 7pm.
The decorations are all packed away for another year. My sewing machine can now go back onto its trolley and my fabrics can come out of the cupboards. I have been piecing together a piece of work made with Hexagons. Some lady had started it and didn't want to finish it after many years being in her loft. It was given to the sewing group I go to and I offered to sew the remaining pieces to it, I am not quilting it, that should be another persons job, I don't know what is going to happen to it when its finished.
When Hubby came home from work he said he didn't know the people across the road were moving. We didn't even know that the house was for sale or rent. It could be the people moving out or people moving in. How times have changed, I am an ex-wife of the Air Force and when we moved to a new posting we were always greeted with a cup of tea or coffee. I have lived in this house for four years four months and I know my immediate neighbour and one across the road and that's as far as it goes. People do not try to meet their neighbours like they did years ago and its such a shame. My New Years resolution maybe should be to try to meet new people but I am a reserved sort of person but I will try even if it is only to say good morning when I see them. I do not work because I am disabled and generally only walk a few hundred yards to a row of shops to collect my daily paper some days I don't get that far and Hubby will go to collect it when he gets in from work.
Enough of my rambling. I am still waiting for help on how to attach a sleeve to a wall hanging. I looked in the links that people sent but they are not for a three inch sleeve.

30th December 2006

We had a lovely Christmas even if it was quiet. My Mummy has now gone home, we took her on Thursday. I really miss having her here and I would have kept her for longer if she had wanted to stay. She is going out tonight so needed to make sure she was home in plenty of time. We never got out and about too often because of the weather being either foggy or cold. We did make it out for a meal on the 27th though. The daughter and her partner came over on Boxing Day so I cooked two Christmas dinners. Thank goodness for the dishwasher. I bought Hubby a Sat Nav. I wish I hadn't. Today we have been trying to set it up and like all men with new toys he doesn't wait for the instructions on how to use it he just carries on touching the screen and getting too far ahead and then he has to re-set it so we can start again. He said "Can you print the instructions off for me". What he forgot to mention was that it was 140 pages, just as well the printer didn't respond. Then I had to sort out the printing problem and that meant -un-installing and re-installing. All in a days work (ha ha). Sewing has had to take a back seat while I have been trying to sort his sat nav out. One day things will go right. I am still having difficulties on getting into my blog spot and I know I am putting the right user name and password but it just doesn't seem to want to know so I have to keep re-setting my password. I also have not found out how to attach a 3inch wide sleeve to a quilted wall hanging I am doing. Can anyone out there help me with this quest as it is important and I am running out of time. I am looking forward to my quilting group starting up again in the new year. HAPPY NEW YEAR to all who reads this. I tried to attach a photo of a finished quilt I had done but don't know how to attach it. Need a knowledgeable person who has a lot of patience.

Monday 18 December 2006

I Still can't fathom my way into this blog page. If I type the www name they have given me they say its not available. I try to sign in and they tell me my password is wrong. Will I ever get the hang of it????? I am nearly ready for Christmas all I need are a few bits and bobs and to go and collect my Mummy on Thursday and then everything will be in place, once she is over here the weather can do what is likes for the week. She lives just over 100 miles away so Hubby has taken the day off work so we can go and collect her and drop a few gifts off to people along the way. As she is going out on Saturday after Christmas we are taking her back the Thursday (no good at dates) She has a better social life at 90 than I do. I must go as hubbys dinner is not on yet, just as well he has sandwiches during the day to keep him going because dinner is sometimes later, but not that often. I will try to find my way back into this system another day. I still haven't found out how to put a 3 inch wide sleeve onto the back of a quilted wallhanging I have done. Can any-one help????

Today 12th December 2006

What a start my day already has. I created a blog and now I can't find it so I have had to make another one in the hope I can retrieve this one, if not I will have so many postings people will wonder how many of me there are. I had a bad nights sleep yet again. Something is waking me up at round 4a.m. and I can't get back to sleep afterwards. Shattered is not the word. I have finished my Christmas gift shopping so now I have only got to battle with the crowds when I go food shopping. My lounge looks like a bomb has hit it with the boxes of decorations all out of the loft. My tree is decorated and lit and some of the ornaments are out but I haven't yet put the trimmings up and I don't know if I will bother. Maybe I will just put bits of tinsel over the place. It gets harder each year to get motivated and I still have so many things left to do, but here I am sitting at my computer instead. At least the laundry is nearly up-to-date. I have packed away my sewing machine and all of my fabrics. I do patchwork and quilting and I am a bit obsessive about it. I joined a group a couple of years ago and we meet every alternate Tuesday evening and I can honestly say that I thoroughly enjoy it. I have met a lot of new people and I have been known to drag (he doesn't mind) my husband around quite a few of the Quilt shows. I have quite a good stash of fabrics that I intend to use one day and I keep adding to it if I see any I like.

Must go and make an attempt at getting the house ready for Christmas and I suppose I will get into the mood of it soon. My Mummy (who is 90)will be here along with my husband and I and my daughter and her partner will be joining us on Boxing Day as they take it turns as to where they spend Christmas Day and this year its not my turn. It will be a quiet Christmas for me but I expect a very busy one.

I hope to hear from some-one maybe who has the same interests as me. Hope to hear from you soon.
